HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY

In 2005, working with Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, we launched the ‘George Davies Centre for Retail excellence. The first output of this was the post-graduate MSC in International fashion marketing. I worked closely with the team to set up the course, and to date there have been over 250 graduates over the past 9 years. As part of the course I do two master classes at the University and spend time with the teaching staff that in turn, has spent time with me and my team in the Cotswolds. We have subsequently employed a number of students to work in both the Per Una and S’porter businesses, which is fantastic to retain such talent.
“It is hard to overstate the impact that the George Davies Charitable Trust has had on Heriot-Watt University. We’ve been working with George since 2005 and have built a centre of excellence that covers fashion retail from concept through manufacturing, logistics and the point of sale. Our MSc in International Fashion Management is shaped directly by George’s expertise and eye for detail. Support from the trust has enabled us to reshape the learning environment for our students and to fund research fellowships and scholarships that further our expertise. Our students are lucky enough to benefit from master class sessions with George that are, simply invaluable and as a result our graduates have found their way into a succession of high profile roles in industry.” – Professor Robert Macintosh, Head of School
